Hastily shoving his white suit back into the wardrobe, regular Talking Bull contributor Bill Thomas AKA Talking Billy Bollox, reveals just one of his 1970’s guilty pleasures.
One of my personal favourite records of all time is a 1977 hit called Float On by a group called the Floaters. I couldn’t admit to liking at the time, but secretly, I loved it. This was my guilty pleasure. If 1977 was before your time, Google it. Prompted by their parents, should our players sing their own versions of this song at a karaoke night. they might sound something like this.
Versatility, and my name is Keyon
Now I like expressing myself and playing with freedom
I like making goals and scoring goals of my own
And if you like that description, come and support me
Shake my hand, come and support us in Bulls Land
Let me show you how sweet it can be
Here at Hereford FC, I want you to
Float, float on (float on to the Football League)
Float on, float on
Defender, and my name is Ryan
Now I like to keep an opponent quiet
Especially an opponent that thinks he’s Mr Universe
Yeah …. shake my hand
Come and support us in Bulls Land
Three promotions, it’s three out of three
Share success with me, I want you to
Float, float on (float on)
Float on, float on (With Ryan)
Float, float, float on (Ooh, yeah)
Float on, float on
Fullback, and my name is Jimmy
Now I like getting forward and being creative with the ball
And if you like this way of playing
I want you too … Yeah, shake my hand
Come and join us in Bulls Land
Let me show you how sweet it can be
Here at Hereford FC, I want you to
Float, float on (Float on to the Football League)
Float on, float on (Yeah)
Striker, and my name is Lance,
And I like scoring goals against everyone and everybody
And you know what supporters, if seeing lots of goals is you
Then this is what I want you to do
Ooh, yeah, shake my hand
Let me take you to Bulls Land
Let me show you how sweet it can be
Sharing goals with Lancer,
Float, float on (float on to the Football League)
Float on, float on (Float on)
Float, float, float on (Yeah, yeah)
(We better float on)
(Float on) (Ah)
