Madou Cisse Kane (20) is a very small right footed midfielder (1.7 metres), best known for his energy, pace and enthusiasm.
Madou was born in Spain to Senagalese parents. With four brothers, he was never short of kickaround company. One of his brothers plays football in Spain. Cassius Clay Cisse (18) at Notts County is unrelated, being the son of Djibril Cisse, though certain media outlets think otherwise.
Remaye Campbell (also ex Notts County) will be grateful to share future travel costs. Why Hereford is an interesting question. Admittedly you’re never going to lend a short midfielder to nearby Alfreton but you’d think there are nearer options. Has our all-round sexiness reached the East Midlands?
Twelve-year-old Madou lined up against an Academy team and really impressed. Notts took him on a 6-week trial initially though needed only one week to sign him. Eight years in one place is a big commitment.
After moving smoothly through the Academy and his scholarship, Madou was summoned to make two appearances in the 23/24 FA Trophy where curiously he played as a wing back or a central defender. County were focussed on getting out of the National League.
His 7 appearances last season in County’s first X1 spanned 4 different competitions. The Football league Trophy obviously but there were cameos in both the League Cup and FA Cup. Best of all, he started in the EFL in November v Walsall, followed by another match in December but nothing since. Without any loans to date, his mens football experience is limited to County’s first team.
A season-long loan with the Bulls is a significant commitment for both player and loaning club. Small performers have to be exceptional to rise above the routine bullying. Some County supporters have expressed concern about anyone is being loaned out given the small size of their squad. Cisse is contracted with Notts until June 2026. As things stands, he’ll return to the East Midlands aged 21 and a month on his contract, having not played first team with County for 18 months. There’s obvious peril here for the player.
We’re just grateful for the extra talent. Welcome Madou.
