The FA’s National League System Club allocations have placed Hereford in the Vanarama League North after clinching the Southern League Premier title in style this season.

So, subject to the normal appeal process, Bulls fans will be re-acquainting themselves with stadiums they may well have visited in the past, and enjoying some rekindled rivalry with the likes of Kidderminster Harriers, Chester, and Telford.

But what of attendance levels?

How well are Hereford supported in comparison with their “new” opponents?

Edgar Street league attendances averaged 2,553 this year, despite more matches being played on Tuesday evenings as a result of the excellent runs the club had in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. So, in a direct comparison, the Bulls would have been the third best supported club in the National League North this season. Indeed, an increased level of away followings are expected to enter Edgar Street in the coming campaign so, provided a competitive side is assembled, gates could well increase.

Stockport gained the highest level of support with an average in excess of 3,500 whilst York City and FC United of Manchester both recorded averages in excess of 2,000. The Bulls’ old adversaries Kidderminster Harriers managed to attract an average of 1,680 through the Aggborough turnstiles.

Indeed, eleven National League North clubs attracted average home attendances of over 1,000 which is something travelling Hereford supporters have not experienced since the club was reformed.

Here is a full list of the average attendances in the National League North 2017/18 season.
